Piero G. Sarmiento Alosilla
Piero G. Sarmiento Alosilla is a Peruvian artist who has been writing poetry since elementary school in order to escape his introverted reality and interpret the world with a more optimistic outlook. At an early age, he discovered this therapeutic outlet where he could freely decompress his thoughts every time he felt in a socially uncomfortable situation. Back in 2014, Piero rekindled his passion for poetry once he moved to Washington D.C. where he began to publicly share his craft with the rest of the world in several open mic venues. This transition was optimal for his artistic and personal growth since it allowed him to face his biggest fears (such as public speaking) and exploit other hidden talents along the way. Little by little, Piero's poetry became an eclectic expression of theater, satirical comedy, motivational speaking, piano playing and even singing. 'Reading or reciting' poetry would not be a fair description of his holistic acts.
His unique performances, along with passionate devotion for Spoken Word have turned him into well-known poet among the artistic community in the nation's capital. Every day, he keeps on pushing his own limitations by involving the audience into his acts, jumping off the stage and using all the resources at his disposal. As a result, he has been invited to perform at radio shows, theaters and has even been selected to play the lead character for an upcoming sitcom.
Piero mostly writes about self-help topics such as gratitude, love, compassion, and happiness. He claims that memorizing his pieces is an efficient way to keep reminding himself to constantly live by the principles that he shares with the public on a daily basis.
